Week 6: Me x 3

TOYOTA TRUCKS
Toyota is a vehicle that really defines my father.  It has always been his number one choice for vehicle purchase.  Nissan is his second choice.  The reason for his choice is trust.  He has always seen Toyota as a reliable vehicle.  More specifically, he relies on Toyota trucks.  All his purchases had been used cars.  He has owned many Toyota cars and trucks throughout his life and has never had a problem with any of them.  I know continue on with his Toyota loyalty for trucks.  Currently my father owns a Toyota Tacoma 99' and my sister a Toyota Solaris 01'.  I have a classic 1977 Toyota  R23 pickup.  I would never buy a vehicle other than Toyota!

VANS SHOES
When I was younger, it always felt so hard to pick out a shoe.  I didn't like the way many looked.  Some shoes did look nice but were way too expensive.  I would usually end up just getting whatever shoe that was cheap.  One day, in my mid teen years, I walked into a vans store in search for some shoes.  At the time, I got a pair because it met my style.  Ever since, I have been purchasing Vans shoes.  Now in the present,  I continue to stay loyal to the brand but go for their more simple solid color (black) shoes.

MOGAMI CABLE
In the past, I never really payed attention to instrument cables or XLR cables.  I used to always purchase a cheap brand that was usually around 20'.  Now that I have entered the recording world, cables matter a little more than what they did before.  I have never heard of the brand Mogami until early this year.  I went to a music store to purchase a microphone.  The microphone said it was internally wired with Mogami cable.  I didn't really think about it at the moment.  I thought, maybe I need another XLR cable since this is a stereo pair microphone.  The sales person suggested Mogami since it was on sale that day.  After I got home I did some research on the cable.  It turned out to be a top of the line cables.  It is designed for superior audio quality.  I was surprised because the price wasn't ridiculously high and also because the cable was so thin compared to others.  They are considered "The Cable of the Pros".  Since then, they have been my number one choice for XLR cables.

Week 5 EOC: Social Networks and Job Hunting

LinkedIn is the top professional networking site. It is very comprehensive to view data from candidates for a possible job. Facebook does seem to be a threat to job boards that are more traditional. It seems to slowly attract recruiters because of the mass number of users.

"Facebook hires account for less than 1% of the total hires companies are making, according to Jobs2Web, which helps companies track the sources of candidates and hires" (Recruiters Troll Facebook For Candidates They Like, Aug 8, 2011). Facebook May not be very efficient but sure does have potential. "The majority of social-media traffic to Waste Management Inc.'s careers website comes from Facebook... trying to fill 1,500 positions—from software developers to garbage truck drivers" (Recruiters Troll Facebook For Candidates They Like, Aug 8, 2011). Some companies are able to find Facebook much more beneficial than job boards such as LinkedIn.

Facebook may find its way to becoming popular for employee candidates. Employers would like to know more about who they could possibly hire. With millions of users on Facebook, it is made easier for some companies. On the other hand, other companies may find that they don't recruit as much people through Facebook as they do with LinkedIn. It is similar to marketing techniques where they try to find out more about the consumer. Figuring out the employee may effect customer service. "Many, many levels of factors affect our buying behavior—from broad cultural and social influences to motivations, beliefs, and attitudes lying deep within us" (Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Edition.  Armstrong 137).

Week 4 EOC: New Phone App

A cool app idea would be something that is able to listen to sound and translate it into either words or find more similar sounds on the internet. This would mostly be an app used for fun but may have some good uses to it too. It will work with the microphone built into your smart phone.

I could feel an app like this would be really fun for me to mess around with. The app should be able to give many synonyms for whatever sound it is describing. The app should also be able to find similar sounds for free and for purchase. This could be a neat tool for sound designers! Sometimes you hear a sound somewhere that sounds cool and/or weird; that's when you may quickly pull out your phone and open up this cool app. Then, you should be able to save in a bookmark or library to later analyze.

I believe this app idea has potential. A lot more may be added to make this app better and more helpful. This app may be more than just a tool and can be a cool app game too.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

My demographics is the Millennials also known as Gernation Y. Millennials is the generation that follows Generation X. "Echo Boomers" is another term used to describe Generation Y because Generation X were also known as "Baby Boomers" (http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/Generation-Y.html).

Millennials are people born from the 1980's to the 2000's. People from my generation are less concerned about marriage, religion, politics and spend a great amount of time on social media; not to mention debt. Millennials are the "Digital Natives". We were born with technology advancing and did not require the need to adapt. 81% of us are on Facebook. This generation has also been the most diverse generations of all. Although racial diversity is higher, social trust is is lower.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

"The Profit-With-Purpose revolution has begun"

- Dr. Andrew Kuper, LeapFrog Founder

LeapFrog is working with the idea that by covering families with insurance, there will be more potential get them out of poverty. By working with other companies, LeapFrog is able to cover millions of families. Insurance may have the biggest impact on people's financial status as well as social status. "85% of low-income people are emerging consumers" (http://www.leapfroginvest.com/lf/about/profit-with-purpose).

People in poverty live "hand-to-mouth". Many families want to send their kids to school or maybe they want to start their own business but many things could go wrong along the way. Insurance is the answer to help people and families to go with their ideas. LeapFrog believes the poor may also be investors and cycles of poverty may end.
